Request Emission-related Powertrain Diagnostic Trouble Codes

July 3, 2012 OBD Scantool Software Guide

Mode $3: Request Emission-related Powertrain Diagnostic Trouble Codes

OBD Scantool toolbar

This service enables "confirmed" emission-related DTC’s to be retrieved from the vehicle under test. If no trouble codes are stored then each module whose address is listed in the "DTC Summary" table, will have an associated count of zero (Number of DTCs).

The displays will be continuously updated until such time as the user switches to another OBD/EOBD service.

Module DTC's

If only one module reports DTC’s then those DTC’s will be automatically displayed within the "Current DTC" table. If multiple modules report DTC’s then no information will be displayed within the "Current DTC’s" table until the user selects any entry from within the "DTC Summary" table.

If the MIL light is enabled due to the DTC’s reported by one or all of the responding modules, a icon will be displayed next to the applicable module address within the "DTC Summary" table.
